In 1879, the melody became the unofficial anthem of Waldeck when Princess Emma of Waldeck and Pyrmont married King William III of the Netherlands, and an anthem was needed.〔Otto Boehm: ''Die Volkshymnen aller Staaten des deutschen Reiches.
